Paperboard folding cartons are one of the most familiar types of packaging. But they don’t need to be ordinary or predictable. Printed folding cartons can be as creative as your imagination. The Reverse Tuck

This is a great carton style for cosmetic, personal care and pharmaceutical products. It’s mostly recognized for its easy open/close capability. The top closure hinges from the back panel to the front and the bottom tucks into the back. Reverse tuck cartons store flat to save space and also snap instantly into place for easy assembly. An internal structure or partition can be designed and inserted to add extra strength or hold a product in place.

TICCIT 2016

TICCIT 2016 – Thoro Packaging is happy to announce another successful TICCIT program for our kindergarten through sixth gradersPlanting Legacy Tree at five different elementary schools. The students participated in this Arbor Day event in which they learned how trees are grown and harvested for the making of paperboard and then turned into packaging materials that are recyclable and renewable. As part of the TICCIT program, Thoro donated 100 tree saplings so each school could participate in planting trees for future generations. In addition, The Prentice School received a special legacy tree for their campus.

This year’s sapling was a tulip poplar, a tall sturdy tree that provides lots of shade. We hope the students of Alcott Elementary School, Garretson Elementary, Cielo Vista Elementary School, St. Junipero Serra Catholic School and The Prentice School enjoy watching their trees grow for many years to come!

Thoro Recognized for Creating Award-Winning Packaging

Winners of the FSEA Gold Leaf Awards were in Orlando this month where an exciting assembly of color, dimension and eye-catching effects represented the most exquisite works throughout the graphic arts industry. Hundreds of exquisite pieces were received from all over the world. They were judged by a panel of industry experts in three categories: design, execution and level of difficulty. Thoro Packaging earned two awards this year:

  • Gold Leaf Award for Sugarfina, “But First Cocktails” – Creative Use of Foil/Embossing
  • Bronze Leaf Award for Julep “Zodiac” – Creative Use of Special Diecut

Thoro Packaging was honored again at the Printing Industry of Southern California’s annual awards gala in Los Angeles. Administered and hosted by the PIASC, entries were judged by a jury of industry experts. The Meaning of Green

The Irish holiday is always celebrated on March 17th, which is the day that Saint Patrick died. He was a missionary way back in the 4th century. His real name is believed to be Maewyn Succat. He took the name Patrick after he became a priest.

Saint Patrick’s Day has changed considerably since the 4th century. Leprechauns, green clothing, green drinks, green everything. Why you ask? Green is the color of Ireland and springtime. Green is featured in the Irish flag, it’s the color of shamrocks, and Ireland’s nickname is the “Emerald Isle.” There isn’t really just one reason why green is the official color of Saint Patrick’s Day.

From a color psychology viewpoint, it steadies the heart and emotions, and creates a balance between the brain and the heart.
