Janet Steiner has been President and CEO of Thoro Packaging since her father stepped down in 1982 and is held in high regard as a leader of an innovative and successful folding carton company. Her passion is creating beautiful folding carton packaging for Thoro’s customers.
Jan is an active member of the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC), the Independent Carton Group (ICG), Vistage, as well as other local and national business organizations. Jan’s latest passion is mentoring young women in business; and her association with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), and their local/regional chapters gives Jan the opportunity to meet and work directly with young entrepreneurial and executive women.
Jan is known and often recognized for her enthusiasm, creativity and “Can Do” attitude. Jan is a frequent presenter and panel participant for many business and community events; and she has been recognized for many of her contributions by local and national organizations.
When Jan is not leading meetings at Thoro, traveling the globe to find new equipment and innovations for Thoro, presenting and working with other women in business, you will find her gathering a basket of eggs from her chickens or baking in her kitchen. Jan loves to try new recipes and sharing her favorite homemade baked goods. Ask her about her famous blueberry coffee cake, and no doubt, she will have some for you the next time you meet.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Janet’s favorite saying is, “If you don’t make dust, you eat dust.” As a woman president, she rarely takes the designated path and has spent the past 29 years making dust.
