July 4, 2014…

July 4, 2014 marks the 238th anniversary of the United States. Historians have long disagreed whether the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, even though Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin all later wrote that they had signed it on that day.

The date of the signing doesn’t really matter.  The importance of the day is that thirteen colonies resisted the greatest power on Earth in their Declaration of Independence.  Gratefully, that spirit of liberty and absolute dedication to freedom is still celebrated 238 years later.

The Thoro Packaging team is grateful for our freedom; a freedom that allows us to continue living in this great country, serve our customers and manufacture right here in the United States.

We hope that this 4th of July is better than your last and one that reminds you to never settle for average. Be joyful, be 4th of July Image Twosafe, and remember to thank the service men and women that have fought for our freedom. Happy Independence Day!

Artwork to “Die” For

A BIG THANK YOU to Artist Betsy Enzensberger for the beautiful art piece, Magnetic, Mixed Media with Resin.

This particular piece is called “Magnetic” and represents the ocean floor. Betsy’s creation started with a re-purposed die board. The board was painted, paper was used for the pattern and a resin coating was added. Other materials she used include thread, twigs, and the existing die board components of wood, rubber and metal. This beautiful work of art made from recycled materials is currently hanging here in the Thoro office.

Betsy comes from generations of artists. She was encouraged to create art at a very young age. While excelling in the subject, she followed her heart and graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Abstract Painting. Betsy uses travel to continually spark her creativity and influence her styles of painting. She is currently embarking on a series using up-cycled die boards and resin. As a member of the Los Angeles Arts Association, she exhibits her works in the Los Angeles area.

With Thanks on Memorial Day…for Freedom

As we celebrate Memorial Day and remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, please reflect on the following: All too often we forget the importance of, or even take for granted, the things that we have come to expect as American citizens. With that in mind, think about Memorial Day, and what it represents to you. It’s not about the parades, visits to cemeteries and cookouts, but about the freedom to participate in those activities and the men and women who put their lives on the line to provide that liberty.

Freedom is the one thing we stand for as Americans. It makes us exceptional in the global world view. Freedom is the very essence of social happiness, the freedom to choose, the freedom of resolve, and the freedom of opportunity. Without it, we cease to exist not only as a society, but as humanity.

Memorial Day represents FREEDOM… Thoro Packaging says thank you to those who allowed us the luxury to experience freedom like no other country in […]

Packaging Appreciation

disc_2While reading a local Orange County magazine, I came across an article that featured one of our customers. I was pleased to see that they attributed part of their success to their great packaging. (By the way was produced in great part by Thoro Packaging.)

4th of July

The late, great Erma Bombeck once said…

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.” –Erma Bombeck

In observance of the 4th of July holiday, Thoro Packaging will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th and Thursday, July 5th.

To all of our friends, customers and suppliers; Happy Independence Day!
