E-commerce and its Effect on Packaging

It’s Saturday night and you don’t feel like going out, but you must have that new face wash your favorite brand just released. So what do you do? Well most of you will go online and purchase it, and have it shipped right to your door. We’ve all been there; it’s convenient and requires little effort on our part. If only everything was as easy as shopping online. It’s a trend known as e-commerce that is changing the way you and I shop, and it’s wonderful. Traditional brick and mortar stores just don’t cut it anymore, and things are changing faster than you can say “Amazon.” We want things faster and faster each with less and less effort. That’s consumer behavior for you.

According to a report by the U.S. Commerce Department, e-commerce represented nearly 11.7% of total retail sales in the 2016. That means that web based sales reached $394.86 billion last year which was a 15% increase from 2015. The e-commerce sector is continuously growing and it appears it will continue to do […]

Two Keys to Healthcare Packaging: Quality and Innovation

Quality and innovation are key factors to successful packaging. The healthcare industry’s rigid standards can make it difficult to find the ideal supplier for any packaging component. Folding cartons must meet the strict regulatory standards of the FDA as well as internal specifications and standards. It is important to choose a packaging manufacturer who not only has experience working with the medical device, pharmaceutical, and bio-tech brands, but who also understands the intricacies of the healthcare packaging industry.

Quality

First and foremost, quality is everything. Whether it is for the medical, pharmaceutical, or the bio-tech industry; one thing is certain, quality is essential. If you have short runs for clinical trials, or a product launching, you expect your packaging to be of the highest quality. Quality is not only represented in your finished product. Quality is actually reflected in every stage of the packaging design and manufacturing process from customer service, samples, prepress, ensuring all components fit your vision, to the final end product you ship to your customer.

There are many factors that result in great […]

Augmented Reality for Packaging

Pokémon GO will let you travel between the real and virtual world. It’s the most popular and widely known example of Augmented Reality. Did you know the same technology is available for your packaging? Are you looking for new ways to engage your customers on the retail shelf by way of your folding cartons? Would you like to attract your customers by using technology, while entertaining them in a variety of ways?

Augmented Reality could be your answer. It uses technology to engage, inform, interact and entertain your customer. Augmented Reality is a fantastic way for your customers to really experience what your product is about and what it has to offer.

Augmented Reality, often referred to as AR, visually links the digital and real worlds. It has a direct connection between the tactile and tangible world of packaging and the consumer’s mobile/electronic environment, allowing for interaction.

By combining AR with the packaging production process, you are able to create your message and control information, ensuring quality of delivery, monitoring and rapidly adapting packaging with any brand needs.

AR […]

Communicating Sustainability to Consumers

Sustainability is no longer an optional focus for brands, it is now a necessity to stay competitive. Consumers expect brands to place the environment and being “green” as a top priority, just as consumers do in their daily lives. There are recycling cans everywhere, more people choosing hybrid and electric vehicles, solar power has become more accessible and plastic bag bans are in effect in major cities. Green is no longer a trendy thing, it is a way of life.

Many brands have had sustainability programs for years, but communicating these initiatives to consumers has been a challenge. Consumers are skeptical. Corporate sustainability programs can sometimes come across as lacking authenticity, messages are not always clear or lack validation, and often these messages never reach the consumer at all. What better place to communicate sustainability than right on the package that the sits on the store shelf and goes home with the consumer. Put the information in their hands, and make it about what impacts the consumer and the environment.

With so many sustainable packaging options, messages […]

Color Psychology Continued

With an unlimited number of colors, we had to split this topic into two parts. Here are the remaining colors that are most commonly used.

GREEN

A color associated with stability and harmony, green is linked to security, wealth and growth. Always a good choice for medical device, pharmaceutical, environmentally-friendly or natural products, green suggests natural, organic and healthy items. Dark green indicates wealth, indulgence and quality, while light or subtle greens suggest environmentally safe and nutritious. Green is often an ideal color to choose, with the addition of decorative finishes or printing in shades of green that will attract your target market.

ORANGE

Orange packaging suggests cost effectiveness, fun and adventure. It suggests something different, an expedition, or an affordable price. Orange means cheerfulness, self-confidence and happiness. It is a passionate and outgoing color. While some variations of orange can give the impression of an inferior product, enhancing the package with another color can change the message and increase the perceived value.

YELLOW

Cheery, positive and uplifting, yellow suggests original ideas and creativity. It’s mentally stimulating, and has also been […]

Color Psychology – Part One

Color is all around us, but what impact does it really have on our moods, emotions, and behaviors? There is psychology attached to the colors we choose, and the topic of color psychology searches for answers to some of the questions we might have. We hope to answer some of your questions with the following.

WHITE

White is considered the blank canvas. It communicates goodness, uniformity and new beginnings. As a packaging color, white is safe, unpretentious, and conservative, but a good choice when you want to create a look that’s clean, pure, efficient or simple.

BLACK

Black is an authoritative color, indicating control and authority. When used as a folding carton color, black tends to stand out and make products appear much more substantial, higher end, with an increased perceived value. It suggests secrecy, refinement and style. As with white or gray, you can add a secondary color to black to change your message. Adding gold or silver foil stamping creates elegance and sophistication to attract an affluent market. Adding red creates an adult or sensual suggestion; (however people of […]
