As we celebrate Memorial Day and remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, please reflect on the following: All too often we forget the importance of, or even take for granted, the things that we have come to expect as American citizens. With that in mind, think about Memorial Day, and what it represents to you. It’s not about the parades, visits to cemeteries and cookouts, but about the freedom to participate in those activities and the men and women who put their lives on the line to provide that liberty.
Freedom is the one thing we stand for as Americans. It makes us exceptional in the global world view. Freedom is the very essence of social happiness, the freedom to choose, the freedom of resolve, and the freedom of opportunity. Without it, we cease to exist not only as a society, but as humanity.
