TICCIT 2016 – Thoro Packaging is happy to announce another successful TICCIT program for our kindergarten through sixth graders at five different elementary schools. The students participated in this Arbor Day event in which they learned how trees are grown and harvested for the making of paperboard and then turned into packaging materials that are recyclable and renewable. As part of the TICCIT program, Thoro donated 100 tree saplings so each school could participate in planting trees for future generations. In addition, The Prentice School received a special legacy tree for their campus.
This year’s sapling was a tulip poplar, a tall sturdy tree that provides lots of shade. We hope the students of Alcott Elementary School, Garretson Elementary, Cielo Vista Elementary School, St. Junipero Serra Catholic School and The Prentice School enjoy watching their trees grow for many years to come!
TICCIT is held during National Paperboard Packaging Week, which this year took place from April 18-22. For more information about TICCIT, visit www.ppcnet.org/ticcit.
